Switched to Garmin Express from Ant Agent - now can't upload anything from watch

The other day I downloaded Garmin Express and switched to using that instead of Ant Agent - I am using a Mac.

Even though I can connect to my Forerunner 620 fine, and I could install the required updates fine, I simply can't upload anything to Garmin Connect.

So for example today I did a race, the file is sat on my watch and I can view it on the watch itself (it's not corrupted) but I can't get it to upload to GC. Garmin Express does the Sync and then gives me the notification saying "Sync complete! View data at Garmin Connect" but on GC there is nothing there. In fact there is none of my training runs since moving from Ant Agent to Express.

The weird thing is that if I do a manual upload, it connects to my watch and lists the activities where I can choose which ones I want to upload, but nothing is listed from the date of switching to Express. Even though I can look on the watch and see the activity there, the manual upload doesn't list it.

I can't find the TCX file on my Mac either (Library/Application Support/Devices/Device/History) - although every file up until I switched is there.

SO............. what is going on? Where are my files being sent to? Any ideas?

I can connect the Garmin Forerunner 405 ANT Agent fine yet when I go to Garmin Express it cannot locate the device using ANT. How does that make any sense? The website, Garmin Connect has all my transferred information however, what the website offers is extremely limited and does not include maps (as far as I can see). I tried re-setting my mac book and any other possible option. The pairing mode is on and enabled. I am frustrated with Garmin's products and software as they seem to either be too complex or too brief in the explanation of the issue at hand. If someone has a solution to connecting to Garmin Express please advise as your help will be much appreciated.

Big surprise - IT'S STILL NOT WORKING! :(
  • I switched back to Ant Agent, no problems since. I don't really know why I bothered changing to Express seeing as Ant Agent was working fine, was just going with the update I guess.

Fellow Mac user standing on the edge of the cliff with Express. From my research and trying things out, it seems that those who had been using ANT+ agent before updating to Express. What I found was that even after removing ANT+ agent and then installing Express, that Express showed my 910XT as a known device. What I ended up doing to get Express working was exited Express (including the icon in the upper right of my screen near the clock and such). The from \Library\Application Support\Garmin I removed my device ID from the Devices folder (This is what ANT+ agent used) and also from the Express\RegisteredDevices. Then when I started Express, it ran the first time use setup and I was able to add my 910XT to Express and get it to sync. But it appears the sync is only from the watch and off to Garmin Connect. it appears that Connect needs work. If you try to select a custom workout from Connect and send it to your device, it will prompt you for the ANT+ agent and plug-ins. How many months ago was CES when they showed off the new Connect web site and then when we got the emails and the notice on the existing Connect site that they are doing rolling updates to the new site.... Everyone I know with Garmin Forerunners have not been switched over to the new site. I'm wondering if only the folks who pony'ed up the dough for that want to be Fitbit device have gotten access to the new Connect site.....

I realize you're being rhetorical, but the Garmin Connect overhaul announcement was January 6th, so it has been 8 weeks. The announcement said that the rollout would happen in Q1, which is January through March. Technically they have another 22 days before they have failed on their commitment.

In addition, even if they give access to all VivoFit users first and then roll it out to everyone else in phases, that is still a rollout. That, and it is a _free_ service. The only thing that you really _need_ from Garmin is some way to get data off of your watch into a portable format (ANT Agent and Connect Plugin).

  • I decided to just keep using the ANT agent since it still works flawlessly.

I had the same issue with my 610, once i installed the garmin express no workouts & calander items could sent to device.
So i've uninstalled the garminExpress and reinstall the garmin conncet plugin, i test it with adding workout to the calnder and send it to the device an it's good now

i'm not gonna reinstall the expss vrsion till i know it will work in that case

Since downloading Garmin express I can't upload anything from my Edge 500. Express says it is connected and goes through the sync process then gives an error. First it was there is no ant connected to your USB. I use a USB cable. Now it is could not sync with your device. I can upload the workouts fine to Garmin Training Center. There must be some problem with Express that Garmin needs to fix. I have now switched to Endomondo which works fine.
