Upload old polar activity list or plain txt file in Garmin connect

Hi, since a few years GC is my ''main'' database for storing my cycling activities. In the years before that, I used a polar computer and the polar personal trainer site to store all my activities. Now, what I really would like to do is copy the polar activities to my GC account. But how?
I'm able to extract an excel or txt file from the polar site with basic column headers like ''average heart rate'', ''average speed'', ''distance'' etc. But is it possible to upload this as a complete file in GC?
I know there is a ''bulk / mass'' upload possibility from Strava to GC, which should work pretty the same way.
Anyone know how to deal with this?

Thanks!
Michel

    Hello Michel,

The Fit File Repair Tool might convert your files.
Attach copies of a few different tracks.
Use every option on the Polar site for each track.
CSV, HRM(+GPX), Polar XML, Excel, TCX, whatever.
  • Hi Don,
Thanks for your reply!. Unfortunately the Fit file repair tool is a Windows application (I have a Mac, I should have mention that).
Is there anyone who could help me out with this? Would appreciate it very much. Willing to give small donation. Only 2 or 3 years of activities, only plain data, no GPS data.

    Hello Michel,

I have the Fit File Repair Tool.
The tool can use many types of files.
Lets see what it can do.
    Attach a couple files.
  • Hi Don, could you please send me you email address? I believe I cannot attach files here (unless it's an img file). Thanks.

    Hello Michel,

You can attach any file type as long as you ZIP it down first. :)
I am sending you a private message with my email just in case but it would be better to have everything on the open forum.
That way others can also chime in with solutions to your problem.

    Hello Michel,

    Yes, I got your files.
They are just the summary data and the FFRT will open them but at this point cannot make a summary file without some track data.

Can you export with any other format?

I can build tcx files manually that will load into Garmin Connect.
It takes me about 5 minutes to make each file.
Here are 2 of your files converted to TCX.

You could save one of these TCX's as a template, open it with a text editor, add in new dates and data manually for each Polar ride and save-as with new date as the new name.
  • Hi Don,
Thanks for your help. Pff 5 minutes per activity is not working. I have 150 activities :(. Only download options are XML and GPX, but GPX is only possible when activity has gps data. And mine don't have them. Third possibility is to copy the table on the polar site with all activities integrated in one table (rows are activities, columns are data fields like time, distance, average, etc). Then I could copy the table to excel and save it there. But in that case it's one file with all activities. I believe GC needs separate activity files to upload them. Other ideas?
