Unable to send new course to my Edge 810.

Everything was working fine until I was prompted to update my Edge 810 to 2.90 from 2.80. I was also prompted to download Garmin Express.

From this point, whenever I create a new course and do 'send to device' I have a positive response saying the course has been successfully loaded to the device but when I check my 810 it states that 'no courses have been saved'

I have tried this on IE11 and Chrome and on a different laptop but get the same result.

I have tried factory reset and reload of 2.90 using webupdater.

I did a ride today and was able to upload my ride to garmin connect ok but still not able to create a course and transfer to my device.

    The file that gets loaded into the Newfiles folder under the Garmin folder on the device contains:

    <div id="message">
    <h1 id="en">Sorry, our site is temporarily down for maintenance. <br/>
    Please check back soon.</h1>
    </div>
    <div id="error">Error 500</div>
    <div id="footer">Copyright &#169; 1996 &#8212; 2010 Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries</div>
  • I have the same problem for my Edge 800. I created a course and now can not send to the device. I get all the usual messages saying the course has been successfully sent, but the course does not appear in the Edge 800. Just in time to not be able to use it for my hills ride this morning!

    Hello Sharwood/Pfrenn. I think it is now recognised as a problem and Garmin are working on it.
    If you need a course before they fix it I have just tried the following which seemed to work:

    - Create an account on 'mapmyride'
    - Use their tools to create your course, similar to Garmin Connect.
    - Export as a gpx file, saving it on your PC/Laptop in a folder.
    - Connect your edge 800.
    - Move the gpx file from your folder into the newfiles folder on your edge 800(under folder GARMIN)
    - Disconnect your device.
    - Switch it on and check the courses.

    It should have the gpx course, converted into a format supported by the edge 800?

    Hope that works for you.

    Good luck

    Problem solved by Uninstalling GARMIN EXPRESS V3.1.7.0..............I recently installed new maps on my car gps unit using Garmin express....today I went to down load my satuday morning ride to my 800 and it would not take.....i was able to go to ride with gps and use the garmin write function successfully...........But this was not my normal procedure.................So i decided to remove garmin express and the drag and drop into Garmin new folder option is working fine...............

    Good Luck Barry
  • Yeah, this is a known issue with Garmin Express. It looks like someone from Garmin has edited the sticky post that mentioned this, so I have nothing to backup my claim, but a little reading on these forums will show you that this is the case.

  • I had the same issue. Delete Garmin Express, reinstall Ant agent and it will work again
