I REALLY need to know the answer to this question as well. If they are not stored locally this is a showstopper as far as Garmin Express is concerned. Many of us actually use those files.
Same here. I searched all over this morning, but can't find the file on my machine. You could always use Uploader to upload from the device to your phone and then upload to GarminConnect or RunningAhead etc, or just email the file to yourself. If they don't store the file on the local computer, then I'll just go back to using Uploader as I've been doing.
Garmin Express is just an updater for garmin products isn't it?? For those of you wondering where your files are stored on the computer, I have to assume you are talking about activity files and you also use ant agent with an ant stick. If so, then your answer can be found in the ant agent sub-forum which is in the Mac & Windows forum that is below the Into sports forum that this post is in.
No, Garmin Express now uploads one's data to Garmin Connect. It can also update the device with the latest firmware, but its normal primary purpose would be just to upload workouts, such from a 310xt, 910xt, etc. In fact the ant agent can't be running when running Garmin Express. They conflict on the Ant stick.
Well that's interesting about Garmin Express. I tried it a few times last year to update my nuvi and I had issues with the map on it. So I quit using it. The older Garmin tools seem to work better. At least they do for me.
If G.E. doesn't keep a copy on your PC/mac that would be a big problem for me, because the activity file from my device and the export of my activity from GC are not the same. Are you sure there isn't a setting somewhere to tell it to do so? If not, go back to using ant agent.
