Major Calendar Limitations

The pre-set training plans available on Garmin Connect are great—with one major limitation. Most people simply can't afford the time to follow a training plan exactly...Things come up—deaths in the family, vacations, emergencies, small injuries. Yet on the calendar, I have no ability to reflect flexibility.

I can only move the ENTIRE calendar—even with training days I completed.

For example, if I need to take a week off due to travel for business, I can't pick up where I left off on the training plan. Sure, I can move next training day on the calendar, but that moves the ENTIRE history of the calendar. Now, all my previous work outs are no longer aligned with the workout. It would be nice to be able to still see the history of my workouts in contrast to the training plan.

It would be nice if, when moving a training day in the calendar, rather than being prompted only "Move this event only" OR "Do you want to shift the entire training plan"... If the prompt would include "Move this event and all subsequent events only."

Hope that makes sense. This feature, while small, is easiest enough to implement and would make these training plans more flexible to those whose schedules aren't perfect.

+1 to that... I always found it weird that the plan was not kind of a "checkbox" for what you do. If you planned, it keep the original color (yellow, I think), if you do it, then the training is replaced by the activity itself and show up in green. This way, you can clearly see what you did and when and what is left to do. With the replacement, you should have no need to move anything already completed. If you did not fully complete what was planned, then the performed activity + the planned activity would both show up.

Separating things like this would even allow for the plan to "auto-move" to the current date for any missed activities.

Maybe this is already possible with the plans, but I don't see where…..when using a plan, there should be a way to enter your threshold, rest, easy pace, etc. one time and automatically generate those in the plan with the ability to adjust as needed. entering that info for every day of the plan is a ridiculous amount of work.

I totally agree to the request made by COLLIELAXER! Any information from Garmin if this function can be implemented in upcoming updates?
As you are currently (and hopefully) working on fixing the problem with setting heart zones as well as downloading the calender on running watches, this is a perfect timing to add this "shifting function" of chosen workouts (like "move this training and all subsequent trainings only")!

You should take requests from customers serious as there are other companies on the market which offer products similar to yours.

Pathetic activity in this forum, Garmin moderators!
  • Flo Cycling is a company that makes carbon wheels at affordable pricing; it's owned and operated entirely by two brothers. They respond to EVERY post on their forum, EVERY email, EVERY letter, and EVERY voicemail. I've never been more impressed by a company, particularly one as small as theirs for the amount of business they do. Getting feedback from the business owners is impressive....

And here we don't even get a response. I realize Garmin is a larger company, but someone can't make this a responsibility to follow up? How can two busy business owners answer any question or concern, yet Garmin can't find the staff to field our questions?
