Garmin connect no longer calculating time correctly if start/stop watch?

Just nothing something odd.

I did a 10km run and the time on the watch was showing as 50:13.

I checked on Garmin Training Centre and this shows exactly the same time.

I then uploaded the route to Garmin Connect website and now it shows Time = 52:05, Moving Time = 52:01 and Elapsed Time - 52:05.

Having checked the TCX files, they clearly have 2 sections where the watch was stopped and restarted, as 2 points on the route crossing a road and waiting for traffic lights to change!

Looking in the TCX files when the watch was stopped it clearly shows a </TRACK> and a <TRACK> when restarted again. The times of the 2 gaps add up to just under 2 minutes.

I am sure I have had plenty of runs before when I have stopped the watch to cross roads etc, but has something changed on Garmin connect how the files are analysed now?
  • Having looked at other threads on the site, looks like this was caused by the last update Garmin did to the site around 4th Feb 2014.

    :-(

I hope we don't have to wait too long for it to be fixed.

I have experienced exactly the same issue and its vert annoying! I stopped my watch to have a chat after a club run today and it added the 20 minutes on to my activity, totally distorting my run data. Funny thing is, when I upload it and the 'upload' screen, it has the correct time, i.e the time my watch showed when I finished my run. But then subsequently, all other entries for this activity show what is essentially the elapsed time.

I have the same problem. I have noticed on the "Splits" screen that the Summary line is not calculating correctly. I have run distance of 6.55km (adding up each split) but the summary says 6.86. On the Best Pace summary I have 2:06 min/km but the Split line best pace is 4:16 (wish it was 2:06 though). None of the Summary lines are correct. I have tried using Auto Pause, manually pausing and no pausing but the summary line data is still not adding up correctly.

I have the same problem, watch says 35 minutes then when I upload it added all of the time from my stops at stoplights. glad it wasn't just me, I was beginning to think I needed a new watch which isn't such a bad thing!
  • Garmin support have confirmed the issue:

"Unfortunately the issue you are referring to is something that we are aware of and are working hard towards a resolution for it however we do not have a timeframe for this to be resolved.

When this has been fixed, it will be released in a software update."

This really makes my garmin less useful. I'm in the market for a new watch and this has me seriously considering Nike

Does anybody have a workaround solution while this is being fixed? It's quite annoying as this is messing up all the training data....
  • So its a Garmin issue then, at least I found out I can still add up :)

Not got a workaround, but I'd hope to at least be able to re-import the dodgy runs when they fix it.
