Garmin should stop using customers' email as their username

Dear Garmin,
I registered my GPS devices for map updating purpose, not knowing you created an account in this forum with my EMAIL ADDRESS as username.
I didn't intend to participate in this forum nor did I want to create an account here. Spammers regularly scan forum like this to collect emails. Garmin IT tech are negligent to let this happen. NO forums should make users email address publicly available. :mad:

Garmincustomer, how did you change your displayed user name?

The GC and Garmin web sites are driving me insane trying to find this.

See here about changing names. Note that Garmin do give the option of not using your e mail address, most of us here don't ... but you can choose to do so as some clearly do

I did read the thread. The post from Garmin Product Support: "I have forwarded your request. You should receive a PM on the forums." As it turns out, page 7 or whatever on a 10 page thread had instructions to PM jharms01. Burying info, a Garmin web site specialty.
