Interminable "loading" after saving new course

Hi. I have a shiny new Edge 810 and am trying to experiment with courses. I've created a course in Garmin Connect, named it and clicked on the save button. It then just shows a map with no outline of the route and the word "loading..." with a circle to the left going round and round. It has been doing this for 10 minutes without anything changing. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong? The course is a simple 60km loop, starting and ending from the same point. I've tried the whole thing twice but without success. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
  • I just created a 20 mile long course and saved it with no issues. However there is a recent 'surge' of other posts about various issues that seem to be Garmin Connect related. Some have indicated there may have been a recent change to GC that may have gone bad, however I've seen no indication of such, nor any announcement by Garmin.

As always with such issues that might also be browser related, clear your cache and cookies, be sure there is no browser security message you need to answer, they usually pop a line just under your tool bar or url line. (I'm blind to those many times ) and try another browser. I use firefox for win7, and I find I prefer chrome to safari for my macbook, but safari has been trouble free with GC for me too, with the exception that sometimes safari seems to go into a lengthy wait state with the little rotating wheel of fortune icon sometimes.

Thank you. I'm using a Mac so the browser shouldn't be an issue. I'll try the other things you suggest and see what happens. In the meantime, is anyone else encountering the same problems?
  • I have the same loading issue since this week. I have been using it for years without any problem but since days it is impossible to create a course

Tried Mozilla, IE and chrome but no....

I have had exactly same problems. I create course, click save, then just get a "loading..." that will just hang forever if i let it. If i then go to the master course list page i can see my newly created courses, i can click and see them on that list page BUT if i click the course for more detail i then just get the darkened map screen with the "loading..." text.

Courses that i have created say 6 months ago seem to load up fine, its just the ones since last week that i have noticed problematic.

I have tried Garmin Connect on 3-4 different browsers both on a mac at home and a PC at work, all having the same issue so its not operating system or browser specific.
  • I have exactly the same problem. Mac OS Mavericks. All browsers.

  • Exactly the same issues here in the UK over the past few days.

Have tried both Chrome and Firefox, but any attempts to save a route gets the permanent "loading" message with greyed out screen. Can sometimes get round it by clicking the edit button, but usually end up with no saved route.

Another issue is that when trying to access someone else's route link, the message "down for maintenance" appears.

Myself and lots of my friends are becoming very frustrated with the site, as it clearly appears to be a fault with Garmin.

Come on Garmin, we buy the expensive gadgets - please give us the support we deserve.

    Pete
  • The work around is to connect the device by cable to a PC and drop a TCX FIT or GPX course directly into the NewFiles folder on the device. GPX can be exported from GC, TCX from ridewithgps or similar.

This assumes the Edge 810 has the same file structure as the 510.

I have exactly the same issue! iMac with Mavericks.
  • Hi
Same can't do anything with new courses. I'm now using "Ride with GPS" as at least I can get stuff onto my 800, but again only by placing GPX files directly into the New files folder on the device. Ride with GPS seem to think there is a problem with IE11 and the Communicator Plug in will not work with IE11!!

As someone else said on this forum "Come on Garmin keep up!!"
