Nuvi 2517LM doesn't have any voice files.

Just bought the above model and on it's first test trip I realised that while it was showing directions correctly there were no voice prompts. Checked all the usual suspects and then realised there were no voice files actually installed on the device.
Went to download english language pack from garmin express and that keeps failing to install.

Any ideas what I can do, pretty useless having a device with no voice!

Now would be a good time to back up all the files from your nuvi to your PC.

I backed up my entire 1490T to DVD yesterday--something I normally do a few days after map updates (every 3 months or so). I also have partial backups on SD cards, external HD's etc :)
