Can anyone help? Edge 800 and Garmin Connect issue

Upon connection of my device (after many months of trouble free use) my PC running Windows 7 alerted me to an error on the Garmin disc. I selected "scan and repair" from the options, and now am unable to upload activities. Garmin Connect simply hangs. I have reinstalled the latest software, saved the FIT files to desk top and tried manual upload, all to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I was getting that for a few weeks about a month ago. I never said yes to the scan/repair. But I did run a chkdsk without the repair and viewed the log file. Nothing was actually wrong. I supposed it was a brief conflict with my virus scanner as some other things where happening out of sequence. Eventually it quit doing it.
I use Win 7 64bit and Symantec Endpoint protection for my anti-virus.
Struggled with the same problem uploading from my 800 to Garminconnect just hanging, Strava worked fine. Tip was to change my time zone (I went from Aust Western to Chine) and now the problem is resolved. Has worked for other users I know also
