Hi the community,
I'm posting this message to you because the official Garmin support does not reply to my ticket (sent 2 months ago) and I'm seriously angry with them and my Nuvi 205.
I've bought a map update for a Nuvi 205 online and tried to use the Garmin Communicator plug-in on my own Windows XP and the Windows 8 of a friend.
I have successfully installed the drivers in both case, and even after reboot the process is stuck in an infinite loop:
I'm using a standard mini USB cable that I also use for other devices without any problem.
As Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft I've installed Linux instead of Windows and cannot use anymore Windows to update my Garmin. This GPS has a micro-SD slot, so I should be able to update the maps thanks to a SD card. However the online store does not allow to download a file, everything is done through the so-said "communicator plug-in", with software installation compulsory, only available for Windows and Mac like usual bad devices.
Have you managed to update your Nuvi through a micro SD card?
I think I'm gonna download a hacked map on bitorrent, legal things are always sh*t ...
Any solution that would help me to install this map is welcome. In the case that nobody has a solution for this issue do you know if it's possible to be refunded for an update you cannot install?
Many thanks :)
