Can you edit out HR spikes?

Having some problems with HR sensor drying out before I start to sweat enough to keep contact. Due to this getting a 10min block at start of long runs were HR is 180 plus. Is there any way to edit this out? thanks
  • I don't believe this is possible. You may have some luck wetting the electrodes before a run, or using an electrode gel to improve the conductivity
  • Thanks, I do soak it but may need to try some gel.
  • Try using saliva... It stays where its put for longer than water and it only needs to go on the plastic parts on the skin side of the strap. Quick sloppy lick and you're done.

Also make sure your strap is tight enough and (mainly for the gents) that your chest isn't too hairy...
  • Thanks, sort of did all that but still high for 10mins then just drops to normal I can only assume after I start sweating!
  • My premium HR monitor was doing a similar thing, it either stuck at 55, read nothing or worked for a bit. Mine was still in warranty (11 months old),

I contacted support who gave me some fixes I had already tried (as per manual), but in addition, apparently, the HR monitor can be adversely affected by defibrillators, and
2.4 gig radio waves, and there's loads of them on me ride!

Anyway, it was replaced under warranty, and the soft strap on the new system is completely different. For a start, there are three electrodes, and what looks like a rubber insulating
film between the front two electrodes.. The third electrode looks like an extension of the L electrode. So far readings have been ultra stable, so I am V. V. pleased.

    Thanks Garmin
