GPS did not work (220)

I have used my new 220 several times w/ no issues. I took it out of state and ran two events and the GPS did not map my run.
I checked my settings and my GPS was on.
Is this common? Can I access the map after the fact?

on a side note~my 220 registered 13.01 miles when it was an official half marathon course. I asked other and they got between 13.23-13.46.

Did you make sure it got a satellite lock before starting your run? When going a hundred or more miles away from your previous GPS location, it may take quite a while for it to figure out where it is and acquire the satellites. On some of my older GPS's it can take upwards of 15 to 20 minutes. Though the newer ones, and likely yours probably only need 5 or so at most. But moving while it's trying to get a lock will increase the time it takes, and in poor reception conditions it might not acquire at all while moving.

On some fitness sites, you can build your track on the map and add that to or make that your activity. I think Strava lets you do it. Garmin Connect does not, but you can edit any of the other data that needs correcting.

That may be the issue~ I turned on my watch, started it.... paused it...to make sure it was working.....then went running.
I don't think I know how to get connection. Do I start I like I am running....how do I know I got a satellite?
Thank you....I am not tech savvy (as you can tell).....but sad it did not GPS me in Disneyland:(

Page one of the manual shows a status icon for the GPS that will be blinking when it's searching and steady when found. Also on that page, under running it say that after unlocking your device the satellite bars will turn green and it will go to the timer page. However, with my own gps's, I can still make it go to the timer page before it fully acquires the satellites.

Still this may or may not be your issue, if you get to the point where you think you can rule this out, then it may be likely you just need to call Garmin Support, unless someone else come up with another possibility. Garmin Support is free whether or not your device is still in warranty. I prefer to call them for things like this.

Thanks for your guidance. I will have to pay more attention. I used it today (back home) and worked with no issues.....plugged into computer and todays map came write up.
