Migrating to Garmin Connect from MOTOACTV

Hi there,

I have about 2 years worth of runs and cycles on my MOTOACTV which I have all the TCX files for (as MOTOACTV lets you do a block export) and want to move them over to Garmin connect now i have a shiny new Edge 810.

However it will only let me upload one file at a time.

Is there anyway to do this as a block upload?

Thanks!
Rich
  • When I joined one of the other fitness sites, I had a similar issue. It would only take manual uploads from my pc one at a time. However from my edge500 it would upload multiple activities. So I put my old activities back on my edge500 and successfully uploaded them in one process.

I only had about twenty that I wanted to get to the other site. Sounds like you have many times more so you might want to start off with small blocks and work your way up. One caution though, I didn't delete these activities after I uploaded them and after disconnecting and restarting my device to go for a ride, it sat at the splash screen for a very long time. Don't know for sure, but I suspect during start up it does some cataloging of files and the new ones required extra processing. I thought at first it had frozen as the splash screen give no indication of activity. But before I had found the procedure for a reset it finally finished the start normally.

I guess the issue for you will be the .tcx. You'll probably need to figure out how to convert them to .fit. But maybe if you are lucky GC will take the .tcx as a group.
  • Thanks a lot, I'll try that and see how it goes!

    Or maybe try Tapirik. https://tapiriik.com/
It can sync between a variety of websites. So you could put all of the TCX files on Dropbox, then they should be synced onto Garmin Connect.

Thanks for this. I just did the sync and it worked like a champ. I had to 'Sync Untagged Activities' on the setup for Dropbox so the old workouts would go go to Connect. Then, I had to go to each workout and mark it as a run or bike. I didn't have to, just the OCD I suppose. I was like reliving some of those old workouts so it was fun.

It's great to be part of Garmin Connect since I know Motoactv is owned by Google who couldn't get a rip about it. At least we know Garmin won't wizz all over their customer base the way Google has and will continue doing.
