Metric units when sharing data via connect

When you have your Garmin setup to use metric units and you share data with a friend it should also default to metric. Really annoying that when I send to someone they see miles, Fahrenheit, feet, etc rather than kms, C, metres, etc.. Garmin you need to get with the times, sports are always in metric and all your customers are not in USA!

If you share a link to your activity, there is the View in Metric button near the top of the page. I realize that this doesn't help for sharing on social media (Facebook, ...) but it is useful in some scenarios. I've been thinking about trying to write a proxy (or something) to allow pages to be fetched with different languages/units, but I never have any time to look into it.
