How to download DeLorme routes to zumo 350 ??

Former Member

I can not find a forum on the Zumo product line.
I can not find a thread on the Zumo product line.

? perhaps I am the ONLY person to buy a zumo OR the ONLY person who has a zumo question ?

I have a bunch of DeLorme Street Atlas 2012 routes that I would like to download to my zumo 350.
? anybody know how to do this ?

anybody know where there is a forum for me; a thread; or manual that would have such information ???
  • It has been a while since I have done this (on an older model nuvi), but as I recall the procedure it was to use the Street Atlas USA Route tab, File menu. Use Export and change the file type to GPX. Save the GPX file in your \Delorme Docs\Navigation folder. Then you just copy the .GPX file over to the GPX folder on your device where routes or trips are normally imported.

I am not sure about the 2012 version of Street Atlas USA, but on the older versions I have (2008 and 2010), the Exchange dialogue in the Delorme program did not work for route transfer. You have to use the Route File menu as described above.

Incidentally, the forum moderator will probably be along soon to tell you that you are in the wrong forum. Why Garmin doesn't provide a forum for users of their most popular products (On the Road and On the Trail GPS models) I don't know. But in any case if you want to discuss this further, you may want to switch to another forum such as http://forums.gpsreview.net.

I, and many others, have asked the same question. It's not in our hands but the more people that complain the better :)

The weird thing is that the equivalent German site does have forums for On the road and On the trail GPS.

Unfortunately - complaints in Forum do NOT register with management

It turns out there is a place for suggestions - perhaps if everybody sends them the same idea they will catch on::

I followed this procedure on DeL Street Atlas 2012 and IT WORKED::

Route tab / New Edit / File / Export (accept defaults) to gpx file (saved in DeLorme / Navigation
Use File Manager (windows) to move gpx file to Zumo 350 / GPX folder
open route on Zumo 350 by Apps / Trip Planner

Note that Zumo will Calculate route - so it may or may not be exactly as Street Atlas - but all waypoints should be the same ( I am checking that now).

Anyway - IT WORKED - so thanks, Thanks, THANKS

I just had a thought:: export Street Atlas to BaseCamp and fix route if necessary (I ride motorcycle so back roads may not be included when Zumo calculates from waypoint to waypoint). Then send to Device.

Kind of worked, but not really::
in BaseCamp:: File / Import into folder
sucked it in and shows in Library
    BUT
    just the waypoints
tried double-click on route to bring up detail box
    select Recalculate
but does NOT recalculate route - still just straight lines from waypoint to waypoint

    ?? ideas ??
as I am not very familiar with BaseCamp (so there may be another way to make it recalculate route)

Yippie .... got it to recalculate

I did not have my Zumo plugged into Laptop - so BaseCamp did not have the little roads that waypoints were on.

After plugging zumo in and wait for detail roads; then double-click route in Library area to bring up detail box; then Recalculate - and it Initiliazes and recalculates. Terrific.

Of course, the actual route that BaseCamp calculates is very different than Street Atlas but all the waypoints are there. So I can either accept the BaseCamp version or edit in BaseCamp by adding waypoints to force to another route more to my liking.

Anyway it works :: I can now transfer from Street Atlas 2012 to both Zumo 350 and BaseCamp !!
