I am getting hacked of with the suitability of Connect to plan cycling courses, or routes as the are also known. Does anybody have a comments as to the use of Basecamp for cycle routes? Or any other suggestions.
You might glance through the forum for your device and look at all the posts about 'courses' and 'tbt' turn-by-turn. Many posters have different sites that work well for how they use their device. I to find GC a little lacking in the course creation department and you may well be infuriated with the antiquated and limited ease of use for the basecamp tools.
I don't make courses, and I'm not a serious fitness numbers cruncher, but I still upload my data to at least three different sites to see the gee-whiz stats I'm interested in. So don't expect GC to meet your every need
It's worth trying BaseCamp. I think it is much better for planning routes than Garmin Connect. Though maybe a bit more complicated, so takes a bit of learning how to use it.
It does depend on what maps you have installed in BaseCamp, and what sort of routes you want.
You can get free OpenStreetMap based maps, which are pretty good for most parts of the world. These do have quite a lot of paths and tracks, not just roads. Some OSM maps are designed for cycling, so will route along cycle paths where possible.
Also depends on what sort of GPS device you are using, some of them require different sorts of routes.
