VIRB Elite won't upload to GC

I'm having trouble uploading activities from my new VIRB Elite to GC. It just hangs on the "Reading activities from VIRB elite (unit ID 387;...please wait" message. No issues with VIRB Edit - a 2 hr ride with video uploaded in just a few minutes.
Any ideas?

Do a manual upload. That works.

Ok, thanks. Uploading the .fit files seem to work, (though the data differs slightly from that obtained from my Edge 705). I see that there are are multiple .gpx files per activity; these seem to coincide with the video segments - right?
