Etrex 30 Coordinates stuck on original map coordinate while walking

Etrex 30 - When viewing the map and walking, the coordinates freeze on the position where I started walking. When viewing the satellite screen then coordinates update while I am walking. Garmin Support advised me to update the software, and do a master reset. The software was already updated to 3.40 and the master reset did not fix the problem. I am finding a lot of other similar complaints about the Etrex 30 doing the same for others and it's mostly being referred to as the sticky problem.

Is anyone else having the same problem and have found out to correct this issue? Thank You.
  • Sticky problem was solved a while back. Are you sure you don't have your Etrex in browse map mode? If you can see a white arrow on the screen hit the back button to revert to navigation mode.

Maybe that's the problem??? If I hit the back button the coordinates disappear as does the white arrow. How do I get the coordinates to reappear without the white arrow? Thanks.
  • On the map screen do you have any data fields showing? If not hit menu and select Setup Map, then choose which data fields you want, it's the middle selection. If all you want is coords select 1 large. Now go back to map page and hit menu again, this time select Change data fields. Choose Location if that's what you want.

Alternatively if you simply want to occasionally know your grid press and hold the Enter button.
  • Replace the batteries. It's not really an issue, if you select Browse mode then everything will appear 'stuck'.
