Garmin Monterra Sight N' Go and map pointer direction issues

For Sight N' Go, I've aimed at North and selected the command, "Lock Direction", "set course". Upon "set course", the red pointer aims in a complete different position than the initial lock point. This isn't the only problem I'm having with this device.

The other problem is the pointer does not point correctly on the map. For example if the street is North and South and I aim the pointer in Magnetic North direction based on the my own compass calibration, the map appears to base itself on the magnetic north instead of the compass. It's almost like I'm calibrating the map instead of the compass. The compass calibrates itself with a 25 degree user preference but I think it's taking that information and calibrating the map. Which leads me to my next question. Why can't the device calibrate correctly? I have a military compass and a watch compass. Both of them after calibration will align with magnetic north just fine. Not this device. I've gone outside with no metal around and did the calibration three times. It still won't calibrate correctly. Any help would be great. Thanks

What firmware version do you have on the unit? (I had uncovered issues with magnetic north and and true north not "being respected" with the sight and go feature a few years ago.) Also, the compass on this model was known to have "jitter issues", which I believe were mostly worked out in the firmware revisions. Most current revision is 5.40. ~ Is this a new unit? (It may still have old firmware!)

Both WebUpdater and Garmin Express (which is replacing WebUpdater) are designed to search & update your firmware.

OOPS: Never mind..... I thought you had a Montana. (Would be interesting BUT sad to find out the same issues are back! After all, the Monterra is essentially the Montana with android OS support. (multi-touch, bluetooth & wifi) ~ After my Montana ordeal, I've decided to never buy another Garmin product unless it's been out in the field for at least a year! Garmin firmware never seems to be "ready for prime time" @ product launch. (not even close)

PS: I really envy the wireless data transfer capabilities of the Monterra, but not the mult-touch screen (which requires bare hands, special gloves, or specially treated gloves.)
TIP FOR SCREEN: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_8/185-9087778-6662355?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=anyglove&sprefix=anyglove%2Caps%2C267&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aanyglove (AnyGlove spray-on glove treatment. I think there are two kinds, one for leather, another for fleece.)

ALSO: If you have a few minutes, I have several questions for you regarding "tracks" on the Monterra: Is the selected track color show next to the track name when looking at tracks in lists? Is there any filtering and sorting capabilities of Tracks? (similar to what you can do with waypoints) And how about "multi-select" for tracks (archive all, hide/show all etc.) ~ Processing one at a time is a pain on the Monterra. (Especially when Basecamp makes every track a "favorite" each time a track is sent/resent back to the unit.)
