Edit you Garmin Swim Data free online

HI,

I'm a Garmin Swim user and also a programmer. As many of you, I sometime have inaccuracies in my data. For me, it's mostly an extra lap now and then. It usually happens when swimming in a crowded lane, and I have to switch from freestyle to breaststroke to look for an opportunity to pass. As a result, distance, average speed, and maximum speed metrics will be affected. I used to wish I could just merge two lengths within Garmin Connect and get more accurate data. Since GC doesn't provide this feature (yet), I decided to make my own tool. It is working great for me, so I decided to add splitting length, changing stroke style and pool size, and added a web interface to it. It's free as long as hosting cost are reasonable. Feel free to try it and let me know what you think.

Garmin Communicator plugin is required and you'll have to be able to manually upload an activity file to Garmin Connect. I explain how to do it on the web site.

    Bravo!

Sure hope the guy from Garmin I spoke with for half an hour knows this tool!
I almost took back my Garmin Swim to the store because of the errors and the lack of tools to correct them.
Please tell me (I'm new to the editor), is it possible to change the time of a lenght?
    Thanks again!
  • Change Time of length

    Hi,

No, it is not possible to edit time. The watch either adds or misses a turn. So you can split or merge, but swim time stays the same.

    Hope this helps
  • Absolutely superb tool...can I be cheeky and ask 'any chance of maintaining HR data'?

I would just like to say that this tool is absolutely superb! I changed from a Fenix 2 to the Forerunner 920XT and have had nothing but problems with the swim data since. The Fenix 2 was fantastic and hardly dropped a length, I can guarantee that the 920 drops at least 2 or 3 per session, and sometimes it even trebled up on a length! Can't understand how Garmin could get it so right on the Fenix 2 (and 910XT I believe), but get it so wrong with a supposed upgrade.

Anyway, rant over! Swimming watch tools is superb for sorting out any discrepancies so thank you very much! It is much appreciated and really wished I was a programmer so I could help as the one issue with it as that it doesn't keep the heart rate data recorded within the FIT file. Obviously when the program was written Garmin didn't have swim HRM but now they do.

Not sure how easy it would be to adapt the program to keep that data when importing, changing the lengths, and then saving it back to a FIT file? Like I say, I am so appreciative of this FREE tool so didn't really want to push the boat out and ask, but hey, 'don't ask, don't get', so thought I'd give it a chance and mention it.
  • HRM Date

    Hi,

HRM data should be maintained. Not sure why it is not working for you. I've sent you a private message with my email so you can send me your file. I'll have a look at it.
  • Swimmingwatchtools.com was not reachable for several minutes today and my heart sank.
I was so glad that it was just temporary glitch. Some of us swimmers are so dependent on this excellent tool. :-)

    Your tool is awesome!!

Thanks and nice job. Was able to change the pool length from 50m to the correct length of 25m.

    Brilliant!!
  • Garmin changed swimming editing

I am sure we used to be able to change / edit the laps in Garmin Connect last year. I just swam for first time since last Fall due to shoulder surgery.

I think Garmin changed something. since October or November 2015.

If I'm correct it would be nice if Garmin would go back so accurate distances, SWOLF, calories, etc. got calculated.

  • Wonderful tool and a question

This tool is wonderful. It is so useful to be able to change the few missed strokes in the data. I also like the best times summary and where they are in the workout set.

Do you know if Garmin keeps any data on how it makes a decision to end one length and begin another? I ask because my free laps down the pool are much slower than the laps back, and I think it must be putting both turns on one lap or have something to do with how I'm holding my arms in the flipturn. It would be interesting to see a forward movement speed graph oscillating around a zero point some time at each wall. (Or it might mean nothing to me.)

Anyway, thank you very very much for the tool.
