Garmin Nuvi 200 Pin Locked

Hi everyone,

I got a Nuvi 200 which my youngest son has put a pin lock to it. Unfortunately, he does not remember it. Is there anyway or anyone knows how to bypass the lock. It is an old set and I am not prepared to fork out 150 dollars to get it repaired by Garmin. I could get a new one for that price tag.

Thank you.
  • There are only two ways to unlock it again.

    - know the pin lock code
    - know the location the pin lock is set (save location).

The location where your son put the pin lock in is also the save location, u can only enter a lock code if the device has a
GPS fix, so if he entered the code at home, there should be no problem unlocking it.

there is no way to bypass it!
  • Was the 150 dollars just a figure you estimated yourself? If so, give Garmin a call and find out what they really say. Of the 200 series nuvi's, only the 200W is still shown as being covered by their flat rate repair/replace fee, which is only $69.00 US. But you never know for sure how far they'll be willing to please until you call.
  • I'd be very surprised if your son couldn't either remember the PIN code or where he was when he did it. I suspect if you rang Garmin they would want some proof it was yours.

As Mariomobiel said it will unlock where your son locked it once it has a fix, allowing you to either reset the PIN or deactivate the security lock.
  • But still, it's strange. To enter the code, u need to have a GPS fix, and enter the same code twice as a confirmation.........
  • That's why I'm surprised ... :-)
