I'm probably in the wrong place, but these are the only Garmin forums I can find. Maybe somebody can steer me to the right location.
I have an old Nuvi 750, with which I am very happy, and a GTM-20 traffic receiver that came with the (basic?) NAVTEQ lifetime subscription, with which I am less than satisfied. My main gripe with the latter is that it covers only Interstates and other major highways, never secondary roads in the country or surface streets -- even major arteries like Connecticut Ave, DC -- in major cities.
Looking in the Nuvi under Settings/Traffic (when connected to the receiver), I see that service listed (US and Canada), but I also see an "Add" button that suggests I could purchase other subscriptions for the setup. On the Garmin Web site I see two likely traffic services (NAVTEQ **Premium** NA -- is this what I already have? -- and Clear Channel Premium NA). I also see other traffic receivers including GTM 11 (which doesn't appear to address device compatibility) and GTM 36 and 60 (which apparently aren't compatible with the Nuvi 750). What I don't see is any clear explanation of which services are compatible with which receivers and GPS units and what the relative merits of the different series might be.
Can anybody help me to sort out all this confusion? Are any other traffic services compatible with my 750 (with or without another receiver)? If so, how can I purchase them? If not (and if I want to upgrade to a newer GPS unit) , what might I gain in terms of more detailed and/or more comprehensive traffic information?
Thanks in advance for any help! -- jwillett17
