Nuvi 2555LM goes to sleep mode, all the time

I am trying to figure out why this device goes to sleep mode whenever it feels like it. We'll be driving and suddenly the screen will dim and we'll hear a bleep, then we have to pick it up and just the motion causes it to wake up. I have it on my computer today and using a new USB cable, it is still doing the same thing.

I just reset it, and within minutes, it is back in sleep mode. I cannot update to Lifetime maps because it falls asleep during the update process.

Software version is 8.10 which I was able to update today.

So u say that even when you nuvi is in USB modus (when connected to PC) it still go's to sleep mode?
normaly it stays on when in navigation mode, but it goes to sleep mode when it's not navigating but is
just on i.e on cockpit/trip computer mode.

Check Settings>Display>Display timeout ... set it to never, that should cure it :)

Is your battery fully charged? Your talking about a bleep, normally this is the "battery needs to be charged" bleep, or disconnect from power/computer.
