Have a 1450LMT and would like to use a dual usb cigarette adapter for it and my cell phone. But with the transceiver on the factory power cable with cigarette lighter end it looks like i can't do it. Been trying to find an adapter that i could plug the cigarette end of the factory cable and on the other side is the usb connector but so far haven't been able to find anything. Anyone have any ideas for me??
If I understand what you're trying to do (convert a USB outlet to a cigarette lighter socket) I doubt you'll find a solution because, frankly, there's an easier way.
Get a dual cigarette lighter socket adapter. There are different shapes and sizes so you should be able to find one that you can plug the nuvi plug and the USB adapter plug into. I prefer the ones with wires from the plug to the two sockets vs a single moulded unit since they fit almost any vehicle.
And that's where the problem also is, my auto tranny's gearshift lever is right in back of the cigarette lighter...can't use anything that sticks out too far as the lever will hit it...i have looked at many many places and have yet to find one that will work, thus my purchase of the dual usb device and consequent probable return as i forgot about the transceiver :(
It is poorly designed and i have an auxillary one in the back of the car which i routed a cable up to the front but anytime i hit a large bump it would power off...might take another look at the connection and see what i can do...
Use a 2-port USB adapter for your cigarette lighter and use USB cables for your mobile and your GPS, instead of the car charging cables. I can use my USB cable for my nuvi 265w in my car with one of these adapters. Here is one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.ca/Cigarette-Lighter-Adapter-Players-Charger/dp/B000CC6I5W. There are a raft of models available. Just choose the one that has the lowest profile so that it won't interfere with the shifter. Happy shopping.

I assume that he's using a Garmin traffic receiver (GTM25) with his 1450. If so that receiver is integrated into the power cable (cigarette lighter to USB).
One can certainly do what you suggest and power the 1450 via a commonly available cigarette lighter to USB adapter and standard USB cable but in that case the traffic receiver can't be used.
Yep, that's the issue, can't use the receiver if USB cable used and here in the Seattle area you HAVE to know what the traffic is doing, besides being slow all the time that is :(
It's been a long time since I've been up there. Wasn't a plate of spaghetti the inspiration Seattle's road designer? <grin> or am I thinking of Portland, OR.
I don't know what or who was the inspiration but they were clearly inebriated when they designed it....only a few shortcuts and of course everyone knows the shortcuts so they no longer BECOME shortcuts :o
