Newbie question- data editing

Just got back from Vermont hiking, and did first upload from my new 910XT. Wow! I'm blown away by how far the software has evolved since my first Garmin experiences (circa 2006)

I left the unit on while driving back from one of my hikes, so it captured data from 60mph car travel. I found out how to edit the activity summary. I could make reasonable guess on length/distance of activity, and enter that. But what I'd rather do is edit the data in the file that was uploaded-- for instance, delete all points after 2:03. Then I can let the software calculate average heart rate, speed, etc.

Is there a way to do this? (like export .CSV, edit it and reimport?) tried searching forum before posting this.

Thanks much!

    Hello Joe,

I use the Fit File Repair Tool paid version. http://fitfilerepairtool.info/download/
It repairs corrupt files and lets me edit almost everything. The interface is very easy to use.

If you attach your file to another post someone will repair/edit it and you can see the results for yourself.

You can export as a TCX or GPX file. These are XML formats, so you can edit them in a text editor.

Or open them in Garmin BaseCamp, which lets you split/edit/delete parts of a track. Then export, and upload them to Garmin Connect again. Though note BaseCamp will probably lose any lap data.
