I had Garmin Nuvi 3790 GPS for a year now and yesterday it became unresponsive... black screen...
When connected to car charger I can kind of turn it on but I get washed out greenish display where I can barely see what is on. Touch is sometimes working, sometimes not.
When I disconnect it from charger it immediately shuts down and cannot even get it to boot like that.
I tried several chargers, tried disconnecting battery and plugging it to charger ( same washed out screen) , tried holding power button couple minutes and power button + lower right screen = data reset and nothing helps.
When I got it to kind of power on charger I can use touch buttons and voice command... seems to work ok but cant see anything ... Tried to use GPS but it never got past Acquiring satellites (maybe I didnt wait long enough because data was reset I know it takes more time to get satellite data )...
Anyhow, I dont think it is the screen , maybe something battery related, dont know sould I get a new one or give up... will leave it overnight on charger and see what happens.
Windows wont recognize it when it is on USB , but thats maybe it wont power on without charger and has no USB-charging ?
Also car charger lights green when I connect it alone without GPS and stays green when I put GPS on it... dont remember does it change to red light when charging ?
It was in my car for couple of days and battery empty and it was around 30 C outside one day...dont know if that may have caused it.
Any ideas welcome , I am more than willing to open it up and disassemble it if there is any chance of fixing it.
