Dakota 10 - Insufficient Space

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I didn't turn up my scenario on a search, and I really feel like I'm overlooking something.

I have a brand new Dakota 10 that has no maps associated with it. Tonight I purchased the TOPO US 100k map and tried to install it to the device. Of course there is not enough space on the Dakota and I cannot continue. I did check and the Dakota 10 is listed as compatible with the downloadable version. Since the device has no associated maps on MyGarmin GarminExpress, Webupdate and GarminMapUpdater all show as no maps available for the device. Also, I cannot get a product key for the map. At this point I feel like I'm stuck until I can get though to support on Monday.I'm very frustrated with this process, and near to the point of just calling it quits with the Dakota and returning it. At least an Etrex 20 can have an SD card added.

Can anyone tell me how to get the maps associated with the device?
