Nuvi 550 - Troubled by the undead

I've had my Nuvi 550 for several years now, and way back then I once plotted a custom route for a one-day ride with MapSource and loaded it to my GPS.

Fine.

That was in 2009, and even though I've deleted all the numerous waypoints/viapoints from that route on my GPS, each and every time I either connect to the computer or just power up from a USB source which is not even connected to a computer, they all re-appear in my favorites again on the GPS.

I don't even have MapSource anymore and I've pretty much abandoned the use of BaseCamp which was too arcane for my purposes. I'm assuming their stored on the device somewhere. Right? But I'm not sure where or what to do about it.

So, how do I rid myself of these restless spirits from the past?

If anyone can tell me specifically which files to look for and where, and how to put them out of their misery, I would surely appreciate it.

This forum is pretty much just Garmin's fitness devices. Though some users here are pretty knowledgeable on nuvi's too.

Deleting all files with the extension .gpx (usually they are in the folder Garmin\GPX) should do it. Empty your trash can to be sure.
