Compass pointer

Hey guys,
I just received my first GPS. I got the Garmin GPS 62s. I went through all the set-up and went to calibrate the compass but there is NO pointer. I saw one earlier but not now. What did I do ?

Not sure what screen you're looking at but if you have a waypoint or route selected the pointer will be showing you which direction to move in.

Again I'm not sure which pointer you're referring to but I suspect it's the one that points to a waypoint etc that you're navigating to. It only shows when you have selected something ... see page 6 of the quick start manual or 13 of the full manual http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/GPSMAP62_OM_EN.pdf

Because you've got no destination selected ...
