Hello - I didn't shut my Garmin off at the end of my climb and I'm trying to edit the data so I can get accurate stats. I read in another post about opening and editing in Notepad. I was able to open and edit, but not sure after what "language" I was to cut the text out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I hope you saved the original file and then did a "Save As" with a new name before editing.
TCX and GPX files have very specific labeling and structure. A single misplaced letter will often prevent the file from loading.

Anyway, what I do after editing in WordPad is just hit Save. The file ends up with the name I started with such as "2013-09-10-revised.tcx" looking like this "2013-09-10-revised.tcx.txt"
Then I go to the folder where I saved it and remove the ".txt" and ignore the warning about changing file types.

If you attach your original (or revised) file I would edit it for you and then you could look thru the new file and see what was done.
Sort of like a guide for the next time you want to edit a file.

Or if you don't want to do the technical stuff with editing files, I suggest using Garmin Basecamp.
Its lets you split a track, or delete part of it. Then you can export as a GPX file, to upload to Garmin Connect.
