Larger map for activities

Hi,

The map size when showing an activity is quite small on Full HD screens, it would be nice if there would be a full-screen map view, same as it is possible to enlarge the visual charts. Also the courses have the full-sreen map feature, so it should not be too difficult to have it for activities. :)

If you switch to "Player" mode, you get a larger map. And it has an option for full screen mode.

Thanks, i did not know that full-screen option of the player before. However, this seems to be limited to Bing maps, which are the worst in the areas that I am riding, it does not have any of the forest streets or trails at all. Google is better here, OpenStreetMaps is the best. So it would still be cool to have the full-screen feature on the Details page, with all the map functions that are offered on the details page.

I agree, it would be very useful to have OpenStreetMap in the player. I requested that here, but no response: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?35205-OpenStreetMap-in-activity-player

You could suggest it using the "Feedback" button on Garmin Connect. Maybe if they get more demand for it, it might be added.

It also seems that in the player the trail uses much less way-points and thus is much less accurate. Another reason why I'd rather have a full-screen feature for the map in the details pages.

+1 for true full screen maps. There should be a full screen button in the corner of the small map on the details page. The Player is better but you've still got all that crap at the top you can't get rid of - which is nice when you want it, but sometimes you just want a big ass map.

+1 for this. The ability for full screen maps in activities and courses would improve usability greatly!

I have created a bookmarklet that will add a full screen control button to the map.
You will find instructions on how to create and use the bookmarklet here:

Note that this might not work with the new design since it's not activated for my profile yet so I haven't been able to test that.

There was no full screen button on the player page, but this works on both activity details and player pages. It works on dashboard overview too.
