Calorie values Connect vs Strava

Hi all,

First time poster in these forums after purchasing a 910XT.

I've just completed a ride and uploaded direct to Connect and Strava. The calories on Connect are 1280 whereas on Strava they are at 444. Both sites imported the data direct from the watch.

I was wearing a heart monitor.

I'm realistic enough to expect some difference due to formula differences, but 1280 vs 444?

Which one do I believe? (I suspect the answer is neither, in which case which is the most likely to be fairly realistic?) :D

Thanks in advance,

Gary
  • which one works for your goals? If trying to bulk up, I'd use the higher burn, if trying to lose weight, I'd use the lower burn.

My Edge500 with HR strap has always seemed to be pretty close to what other methods of figuring say, but I don't quibble over two or three hundred Calories on my rides. But heck yeah, I agree that your difference seems excessive, but without knowing anything about your ride and your physical condition, I can't give you any guess.

Ok....clearly if I hadn't entered my weight as 182Kg then I wouldn't have had that problem. I know I'm overweight, but not that much! :)

    Thanks for your help,
