I bought a new Nuvi 2797 LMT with Lifetime Maps in the US. Shortly thereafter I moved to Dubai and so purchased Middle East North Africa Maps from the online store. I tried to download it onto my device but it never gets there. When I click on download history, and then download, it tells me checking device this may take seconds, and then immediately asks me to download Garmin Express. Problem is I have Garmin Express downloaded and running already. My device has plenty of memory (2.64 GB free out of 7.54). When I contacted Garmin Support, someone got back to me after 10 days to say I should buy more memory!!! I don't even think they read my email. Can anyone help me please as I need the UAE maps on my device ASAP - driving begins soon!!!
So you purchased the City Navigator Middle East & Northern Africa NT maps in download format? If that is the case you don't use Garmin Express to get them (unless something changed recently). Now you can use Garmin Express, although I recommend using GarminMapUpdater instead, to update the pre-loaded City Navigator North America NT map but for downloaded purchases you use the link in your myGarmin account to download a gmapsupp.img file directly to your device or SD card.
Can downloadable content or cityXplorer mapping be downloaded directly to a PC or Mac?
Should I purchase mapping for my GPS on a disc, pre-programmed datacard, or as downloadable content?
PS: It helps if you're as specific as possible when describing what you're doing/done.
