Newby to GPS needs advice with a 2445

Hi I have recently purchased my first GPS device a 2445 and it tells me I have 90 days to update the maps
( I do not have lifetime updates just the first update )
I tried downloading the one off update and it told me there is not enough space and to install a 4gig microsd card
Question 1 is it essential to have an micro sd card ?
Q 2 does it have to be 4gig or will a 8 gig micro sdhc card be OK
I am looking to install the western europe inc UK maps .

Sorry to sound a bit thick on these matters but as i said this is my first GPS

If your device came with the full EU map then replacing it with Western Europe shouldn't need a card. But yes, a card up to 8Gb should work and larger cards have also worked for some.
