Trip planning in Europe while located in Canada

Hi All,

I just purchased a Nuvi 2577LT preloaded with NA and European maps as we are heading to France next week...

I am trying to program a preplanned route from the car rental agency in Paris to our destination down south, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do it. I can even get the unit to bring up a map of France. I thought maybe it was because it was located my position in Canada, but even when I switch to GPS Simulator, it only lets me search and put in NA addresses...

Do I need to actually be in Europe to view the European maps and program routes?

Any ideas?

Bob
  • Have you tried setting a simulated position in Europe? Also ensure what you're seeing isn't the basemap and that the detailed European maps are selected ... Settings, Map and Vehicle, myMaps

You don't have to be in Europe to view the map, plan routes etc :)

I have tried this and for some reason I can't seem to search anything outside of Canada. I even went in and disabled the NA maps and only left on the European maps. When I start the trip planner, it asks for a start location. Then it asks for an address, but it won't recognize anything in Europe. I tried a city search, but it won't let me continue once I bring up Paris (for example). I even tried searching by map, but it always brings up NA. I zoom way out until I can see Europe, zoom in over France, pick a spot in Paris and same thing. It won't let me continue after selecting the place...

    I am pretty frustrated.

    :(
  • Well it sounds to me like either the EU map isn't selected or it's corrupted. Try connecting your GPS to your PC and run Garmins Basecamp program. It should display both the NA and EU map, does it?

I am going to try this tonight and will report back... Thanks for your time!
