Export workouts from Endomondo, import into Garmin Connect

I am trying to get some of my PB workouts from Endomondo over to Garmin Connect.

I have exported the Endomondo workouts in both .gpx and .tcx formats. I have tried to upload both of them to Garmin Connect and every time I try, I get an error message saying that the file format is not supported.

I really can't work out what I am doing wrong and having searched online there doesn't seem to be much info on this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

    Transferring Endomondo workouts to Garmin

I'm trying to do the same thing - bring my Endomondo workouts/PBs over to my Garmin account. Would love to know how to do it.

  • Can you upload a tcx and a gpx file for an analysis - or send me the files via email to mathias.krallmann<a>freenet.de?
I would like to have a look at them and let you know if you can convert them to GC compatible tcx files with my tool, the Fit File Repair Tool.

One thing I forgot to mention is that when I export the files from Endomondo the downloaded file has .gpx.xml or .tcx.xml file extensions included. I change the .xml extension to the correct one before trying to upload the file to Garmin Connect which is where I get the error message.

Even though I have deleted the .xml extension they show up on the files which I have attached.

I would be interested to know why this .xml extension is being added to the exported Endomondo files and if the issue can be resolved.

    Thanks.

That sounds like a bug with your browser or operating system if it is adding an extra extension. What browser are you using?
I've just tried exporting a run from Endomondo using Firefox, it correctly saves the file as .gpx. And uploading it to Garmin Connect works fine.

Even if it is saved with the wrong extension, you should be able to rename it.
If using Windows, turn off the option for "Hide extensions for known file types" (on Control Panel -> Folder Options). Then you can see what the file is actually named, and fix it if necessary.
  • I had no problems with uploading your files to Garmin Connect after renaming them.

It was some weird bug with the Safari browser. It was recognising the documents as text wrangler files.

    Everything works fine with Firefox.

    Thanks for everyone's input.
  • Can you please tell me how you exported from Endomondo ? Some quick research suggests its not a standard offering.

    Thanks, Richard

Go to your workout on endomondo. Click 'More Options' (it's currently located above the workout map (upper right corner)) and select 'Export'.

I doesn't work for me too. I've tried several times both with Safari and Chrome but the same message is always displayed ("An error occurred with your upload. Please try again") I've tried to edit the xml file (even though it goes with TCX extension it has XML in it) etc etc but no success. The weird thing is that on the old plataform (Garmin Trainning Center) it can be uploaded without any error. The only thing is that GTC seems to not recognize all the steps the way they really are (it changes steps based on pace to a step based on speed).
