Ubuntu Linux

I have Ubuntu Linux. Is there anyway I can use this system? What do I have to do to get my data? Thanks.
  • For Garmin Connect, I think all you have to do is manually upload the .gpx, .fit or .tcx files to GC. I haven't used linux in quite a while, but most of the popular browsers that have also have Windows versions should work with GC. Some better than others. I use Firefox more often than not.
  • Yup, I use GC solely from a Linux system - just mount the Garmin device via USB mass storage (in my case an Edge 500), copy the FIT file from it, then manually upload to GC, as above...

Give that a try and let us know.
  • I use Firefox, but it should not matter what browser you are using. Just click on the Upload button in the top right.

It will say: Garmin Communicator Plugin is not supported by your browser

but under that, click on "manual upload". Then browse to select the file, then "Upload activities from file".

    Works perfectly for me.

There is a Linux version of the Garmin Communicator plugin here: http://www.andreas-diesner.de/garminplugin/doku.php

Though I think its usually easiest just to do a manual upload of the correct file.

Yup I just got a Forerunner 110 and the above plugin worked perfectly for me on Ubuntu 12.04 and the Garmin Connect webpage,

Tested on Chromium web browser running over Ubuntu 13.10 64bit release and a Garmin Forerunner 305: works perfectly. Be careful with the USB ports and Ubuntu, the system did not detect the device when it was connected on a USB 3.0 port, but it did in a 2.0.

    Great job, thanks a lot.

Perfect - I switched port that I plugged into - and its working!

Also - in FireFox - remember to enable the Communicator plugin.

    Thanks.
