GTM 26 car charger wire identification.

I have been trying to identify the wires for the GTM 26. the end plug is damaged, so i cut it off and stripped back to reveal the red,white,yellow,green and also shield/ground wire. i need to replace the end mini usb plug with a repair piece bought off ebay or local electronics store. what i need to know is which wires are the 1 through 5 pins on the mini usb plug. I know the pin-out setup from another site. also, does this plug need the resistor on pin 4 and 5 in order to recognize car mode? thanks for your input on this matter.

also, the wires were pulled out of the plug, so i cant use it to run a continuity test.

You can google 'garmin usb pinout' and find a lot of info. Here is one http://pinoutdiagram.com/garmin-nuvi-gps-power-connector-pinout/ The 'yellow' wire is likely the equivalent of 'black', negative power,if they used DC wiring standards. And 'red' is almost always positive power. Your other two wires are likely doing nothing as they would be 'data' send/receive. But read the googled stuff as sometimes they do funky stuff with them.

My GTM 26 cable got slammed in a car door and the yellow wire is broken at the USB plug head.

The GTM 26 is a charger cable with a traffic receiver, so the other two wires likely do something.
The pinout diagrams are all pretty generic and don't include any wire colour information.

Does anybody have any hard information on the wire colours and pins?
