Hello All,
New to the forum need help with a Forerunner 210 which has been in storage for over a year.
I just pulled it out last night and connected to computer for charging since it was totally dead. This morning it was charged so I took it outside and it locked onto the satellites and updated the date/time, the problem is that the time is 2 hours off (I'm on Eastern Time in Georgia). I reconnected it back to the computer to check for updates and such, it won't let me do anything via the computer because the Garmin website and software packages do not recognize it in any way.
Here are symptoms/fixes I'm running into or have tried so far:
1. Tried a hard reset with no luck.
2: Installed latest version of Garmin Communicator through Garmin website but it does not recognize the device, just lists it as an "Unknown Device".
3. Installed the latest version of Garmin's USB driver software, no luck there either.
4. Just installed a fresh copy of Windows Ultimate with all Windows updates so the Windows Media Player is updated (noticed this was a troubleshooting technique from Garmins website so I included it here)
5. Installed the latest version of the WebUpdater software, still doesn't recognize the device.
One thing I did notice, the device is showing up as a Storage device called GARMIN (G:) under My Computer. It has no files in it (even with the option selected to show hidden files and folders) and was wondering if something like a config file or anything should be there that makes it communicate with software?
UPDATED INFO: I seem to be missing the GarminDevice.xml file and I have read that it is supposed to create a new one when the device is powered off and then powered on but it is not doing that. Is there a way to get a copy of the .xml which I can edit with my device info and put back on the device?
Not sure where to go from here guys, need some help!
Thanks,
Brandon
