I recently purchased a 4-gig micro SD card with adapter from Garmin for the purpose of transferring music files onto it to play through my new Zumo 660LM. Let me preface by saying that I'm not real technical when it comes to computers, but I know how to copy and paste files.
After spending a couple of hours transferring some 170+ songs from my iTunes library, I saw that I had taken up a good portion of available space on the storage device. I then inserted the micro SD card into my device, replaced battery and cover, turned on device, went into "Tools" and and selected "Play". To my dismay, the device showed "No Files Available"-or something like that. Now I'm really getting pissed and sent an e-mail to Garmin Support describing all of the above.
After exchanging a couple messages with them I was told that iTunes uses MP4 format, and Garmin only reads MP3 files-WTF??? Are you kidding me? What is the difference? It would seem a lot of iTunes account holders are going to be disappointed if they try and load their music onto a Garmin device. Incredible-one of the main music software sites out there and I can't playback files from it due to compatibility issues? What now? Do I have any options such as changing the format-or am I stuck with a useless piece of storable data that I cannot use? Can I delete the files on this card and re-use it?
