Course creator a mess - makes courses for walking, not cycling

I used to be able to plan courses without any problems (using the Garmin course planner). When I try to plot a new course now, it seems to try to plot my course in reverse. I have the feeling it is plotting a course for walking and not for cycling. I bought the Garmin 810 because I need to plot courses for use when navigation a 2000 km bike ride I will be embarking on in less than 3 weeks. I really need a solution for this!

The problem has nothing to do with my Garmin 810, but rather with the course creation tools provided by Garmin. Maybe Google updated their maps metadata, and Garmin's parser wasn't updated. I really don't know, but I know that it used to work fine - I still have old saved courses that are just fine.
  • This seems still the case; A have several points where the navigation goes wrong - both in garmin connect but also on in my case the 830. I have the impression that connect is not properly dealing with the tags on map obejcts. So a bridge for pedestrians but cycling allowed too (and also correctly tagged) is properly planned for example in komoot (OSM), but wrong in garmin connect.
