Patience, please. I am a newbie to heart rate monitors. Please, no flaming. I have been an avid runner in my adult life (30+ years). At 65 and several operations, I have hung up my spurs. However, I am both walking and using an elliptical. I had a heart catheterization 18 months ago. I bought a Polar heart rate monitor watch and spent hours trying to set it up. Granted, I am techno impaired as the subject said, but I certainly have set up other watches and Garmin products and the directions and graphics did not work for me with the Polar.
My questions:
1. Is there a fairly simple monitor watch for newbies who are not training for the Olympics? I just want to check my heart rate with walking, the elliptical and weight training. Laps, gps, pace, etc. are inconsequential. I may not be able to exclude that, however, the more bells and whistles, the more complicated it gets. A nice simple watch face with maybe stopwatch time and heart rate?
2. If I purchase a Garmin product, will my Polar chest transmitter work with it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
