Send Garmin Training Plan to Device from Garmin Connect

Hi there. I just completed one of Garmin's free 5km training plans (used it for training for a 10km because a 10km plan wasn't available) and I just scheduled a marathon plan to complete in the Fall. When I selected the 5km plan earlier this year, I recall that there was a way to download the plan in a .gpx file so that I could import the plan in Training Center and send it to the wrist unit (FR305, in my case). I have the marathon plan scheduled (i.e., I can see it in my GC calendar), but I don't see a way to download the plan in .gpx, nor do I see a way to send it to the wrist unit from GC. What am I missing?

Thanks!
  • I'm guessing you are missing nothing. Garmin have discontinued support for GTC and likely no longer care much about the 305 enough to worry about providing a mechanism to get workouts to it from GC.
  • Fair enough, Philip (and I happen to agree with your view on GTC and legacy devices), but how does one get training plan workouts from GC to any device? There doesn't seem to be a path. That being said, I could re-create every workout from a trainin plan individually and send them to a device, but that would be horribly time comsuming and prone to error. I have to think that there must be a better way. Hope springs eternal.
  • Never mind, everyone. Move along. Nothing to see here. I found the (unlabeled) Send to Device button. I assumed that the button at the top right of the calendar was to pop it out into its own window - similar functionality to a nearly identical button in Gmail when looking at a message. The button with an arrow coming out of a square is for sending the current day's and all future workouts to a device. There is a direct path after all.

Thanks for posting this, I have been driving my self nuts looking for a way to send the training plans to my device. It used to be quite straight forward in the Garmin training center but that clever little button in Garmin connect was too inconspicuous for me to find on my own. Thanks again.

When I send my workout program to my device (FR220) it says the workouts are sent but then on the device itself it has nothing and says go to Garmin Connect to download workouts. Anyone else had this issue?
  • If you sent your calendar, rather than individual workouts, to your watch - you'll find them under Training / Training Calendar rather that Training / My Workouts.
