CPSmap 60Cx how do I just use this for accurate GPS coordinates

Hello,

My wife would like to use this in a garden to map GPS coordinates of individual plants - two questions:

1. Is there a setting I can use to do this? All of the settings seem to be for travel and distance between waypoints - I just need to know the GPS of where I'm standing.

2. If I purchase software for my city will it be accurate enough to change location as the unit moves? The currently installed map does not have enough accuracy to change position over such a small area.

Thanks
Charles
  • I can lay any of my gps's out in the wide open with out moving it for 15 minutes and the recorded track will look like I was walking all over my yard during that time.

Exactly. That's the whole point. It's normal. All GPS units do that to varying degrees. But people that don't understand how GPS works, and what factors can affect it, and therefore think their device is faulty.

I blame it on TV, Movies and salesman. They've given people an unreasonable expectation of accuracy. And maybe the fact that people don't realize that their car GPS is programmed to show the car on the nearest road even when the calculation shows them way off the road.
