FR 305 and the dreaded "one of your files was not accepted by the system" error

I am unable to upload some data from FR 305 to Garmin connect, error is: "one of your files was not accepted by the system". Started happening to all multi-sport activities and some non multi-sport activities. Worked correctly uploading to garmin connect for several years, even multi-sport activities. I am able to upload data to www.strava.com but not garmin connect. Why? I've heard of issues with corrupt .fit files, but I don't think the FR 305 has .fit files. I downloaded the exported gpx file from strava and then uploaded that to garmin connect but the lap data isn't there - it is in strava. I tried to use the "Fit File Repair Tool" but that doesn't work on gpx data. Why would this start happening now and seems to now happen 100% of the time in "multi-sport" mode? I've sent twitter messages to garmin connect with no response. I find it hard to believe I have bad data on my 305 when strava can read it and it only happens occasionally.
  • More than 2 months later and Garmin Connect still does not support multisport activity uploads. It is a painful process having to upload to TC first, export to PC as separate activities and upload to GC. I find it very poor that Garmin online software does not support Garmin product's basic features whilst the other websites I use don't have any problems with it.
  • Hi,

I am the developer of the Fit File Repair Tool. This tool is primarily designed to repair fit and tcx files but it can also be used to convert between tcx and fit files.
You could import a multi sport tcx file and export it as fit file which is accepted by Garmin Connect. The Repair Tool has a file uploader so another way would be to import the multi sport tcx file and upload it to Garmin Connect directly (which is done in the fit file format).

If you are interested in getting to know the tool, please visit the website http://fitfilerepairtool.info. The tool requires a Windows PC.

If you have questions feel free to contact me!

    Best regards
    Mathias
