Map update , Nuvi 1350, Mac OS 10.8

After being required to add a micro SD card, I installed one, and then updated my maps (on a Nuvi 1350) via the Garmin software.

It appeared to install correctly, but an error message now appears on the screen, saying no maps are available.

Would be grateful for some expert advice on correcting this problem
  • The following files should be in the \Map folder on your card.

    gmapprom.img
    gmapprom.gma
    gmapprom.unl

If those are in a \Garmin folder rename that folder to \Map

Stuart...thanks for your reply. Sorry to be a dunce, but do you mean I should remove the SD card? And if so, how does one read it?

    Thanks

  • Well you can leave the card in your 1350 if you wish (it's faster to read etc in a card reader if you have one). Attach your unit to the Mac via a USB cable and look what's on the card. I can't tell you how to do that with a Mac.

Unable to read the card, Stuart, I then re-installed the map updates, but still nothing. So I removed the card, and everything is working again, albeit without the update.

Could the micro card be faulty? Not sure how to proceed.

    Thanks again

  • Could the micro card be faulty?

It's possible. Do you have some other device (camera, phone, MP3 player etc) that you could try the card in? I assume you don't have a card reader.
