I own 3 Garmins I used for timber business and driving. I get lost easily. Recently stayed lost in Venice. Need something thin and light. Hotel to destination and back. Any suggestions?
If you don't need any of the specialized things such as sports, marine, auto or trail blazing in the woods, then I think a smartphone would be the better choice, unless you're going to be out of cell service. You won't have to worry about map updates. Using it in different countries can be a challenge sometimes but it's doable.
You can take a look at a Dakota or an eTrex, but all the rugged outdoor handhelds have to be thick enough to contain a pair of AA batteries, so that limits how thin they can get. There are pedestrian modes on some of the nuvis. My 3790 comes to mind. I'm not all that familiar with nuvi features, though.
Thanks for both replies. I have a Nuvi 1350. Should have taken it or one my larger handhelds. I took my Android cell phone and it was terrible. Never could get a signal. I like travelling light when out of the country. Unless I get some more advice, I think my 60cx will have to do. I couldn't keep it away from some German tourists in Alaska. Great for geocatching too. Just wish it was thin as my Android.
