Garmin Base Camp and Nuvi 2595

Every time I "receive data from device" Base Camp Creates a new category with a date/time stamp. Then, when I "send data to device", it creates a new category on my Nuvi 2595.

ANNOYED!

How do I stop it from creating a new category?
How do I delete a category without deleting the waypoints?
Can I delete a category from the unit or do I need to use the software?
  • It creates a 'new' category based on the list it's in. If you name the list as one of your existing categories all will be well.

To delete a category you must do it on the unit, just select the favourite and edit it. Changing the category doesn't delete the waypoint.

I would love to know how to remove all the dates in the category.
I choose "WhereTo" then "Saved" and see lots of dates.
I would love to remove them.

    Help

    Thanks

That happens from time-to-time in my 1490T. In fact it occurred after updating my maps earlier this week. Grrrr.

I've used two solutions depending on the number of bogus categories.

    1) Manually edit all waypoints/favorites, in the device, deselecting each bogus category. Categories not assigned to any waypoint/favorite are automatically removed.

    2) Backup all waypoints/favorites (to software such as MapSource/BasCamp), delete them all in the unit, all the import them back into the unit after removing the bogus categories.

I seem to recall that someone once posted a better method but I've forgotten it.

    Awesome......:)

That's exactly what the problem was good job...and thank you.

I went into Basecamp double clicked on each waypoint and sure enough under the tab "References" each waypoint was listed under a different and several lists.
I just clicked the little x and made sure the list was what I wanted and was good to go.

I just wished you could open a bunch of waypoints at the same time and edit them at the same time.

But this worked just fine again.... Thank You

PS:I did search very hard on the net but could find nothing on this.

How to delete a quick search

I did a couple of searches and they are now available at the right part of the screen under the quick search title (Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT).
How can I delete them from there?
    Thx.
