New to the Garmin World

Hi folks,

I just bought a Garmin FR610 (I made the switch from the Nike GPS+ Sportwatch). It's been a learning experience trying to program the watch and load up data.

My question is: which website do you use to view / manage your data? I started using Garmin Connect but I hear people use Strava or Endomondo.

Is there a difference between the sites? What makes Strava or Endomondo so unique?

I'd love to have your input as I'm new to Garmin and would love to get the most of out it.

Thanks!
  • I've used Garmin Connect for several years, with a GPSMap 60CSx. When it works, which is most of the time, it's great. But occasionally it stops working, or rather the easiest method of upload (Upload all new activity) stops working. Like right now all I can do is upload one activity at a time.

I'm not familiar with the other sites you mention, but I expect they are generic rather than brand specific like Garmin Connect. I'm afraind you're going to have to try them all to see which one you like best.

Strava allows you to compare your performance with other people who have run / cycled the same route. Things like hills are listed as a segments and you can see your ranking compared to others who have done the same segment. You can also follow other people and see what they're up to / compare your results, weekly distances etc. The best thing is sign up a free account and load up some of your activities. You'll soon get the hang of it.
